Date 2 - The Pancake Man!

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

After numerous emails back and forth, with questions and quizzes galore, I knew Daniel would be a safe date. He was friendly, and suggested going to see some live music local to me. It sounded like a win win situation so I agreed!

When Daniel first phoned, he was chatty and so friendly, I was reassured that I would have a fun time even if sparks didn't fly. He seemed to have a good sense of humour and he was confident, which if you have ever been on a painfully quiet date, was a huge bonus!

Date night text....

'Where has the day gone! I'm just running a bath and willing the water to come out faster lol. I will call you when I get to the station. I would meet you inside the bar, but if I approach the wrong guy, and even worse, opt to sit down, then you will be gutted ha ha!'

My friend was horrified that I sent this.... NO WAY YOU DIDNT!

Uh Huh, what! Its just a bit of fun, he can handle it!

The reply.....

'Gutted?? That would be hilarious!! lol I will meet you at the station at 7.45. I have a bit of the sniffles, but its nothing an alcoholic beverage wont fix! X'

So now a bit of banter was out the way, meeting Daniel would be easy! Daniel described himself as someone who loved pancakes! He made that point very clear on his profile, along with being an athletic black 5”11 guy, who works in finance. He was a Gemini like myself, and although I don't truly believe in all that, this kinda gave me an inkling we would get on well!

I popped to the cash machine across the road, and as I turned back I saw him. He looked around, got out his phone and put it to his ear. I had my phone in my hand, so I smiled ready for it to ring, and kinda sneaked up on him. It didn't ring lol. He was on the phone to a friend, and didn't immediately hang up when he spotted me. We did the friendly peck on the cheek and headed towards the bar whilst he desperately tried to end his call to his friend. I didn't mind though, it gave me a chance to listen to him talking!

The bar was really cool, an old style pub with an amphitheatre part for live entertainment. Daniel asked what I would like to drink, and I naturally opted for a glass of white wine, to add to what must still be floating around my system from recent days, and he opted to get the bottle to share. As we sat down, I asked, so your a wine drinker? To which he said no, not really lol. I then realised Daniel was a gentleman, and I enjoyed watching him pretend to enjoy a crisp glass of Chardonnay.

We chatted so much and laughed and joked it was frustrating when the acts started. The venue was freezing cold, but we sat silently taking in the talent and often nodding in approval. Daniel was one of those guys that answers questions the host puts to the audience. I guess I would describe him as fairly loud, also when he talks, but it was nice. He was the most genuine person I have come across in a long time. And this date was already worlds apart from the last!

As the music came to an end, we moved into the bar next door, and continued to get to know each other. I still wasn't sure how much I fancied Daniel, he was one of those guys that wears a moody look really well, but when his face burst into laughter he kinda looked like a wrinkled pea HAHA. I know this sounds terrible, but I mean it in the kindest way possible. After all Daniel was growing on me! If in future I would be introducing my boyfriend as a wrinkled pea, then so be it! LOL

We talked about past dates which is supposedly number one of a list of topics men disliked talking about on a date. But he brought it up, so I thought why not! Our conversations were always equal and balanced, and Daniel became more flirty, grabbing my hands across the table and showing he held some affection. I did hesitate for one reason only. I had an epiphonyon this date! Daniel asked why women always go for the bad guys and all of a sudden I knew! (because I do it too, shock horror - self sabotage!)

If you go on a date with a bit of a prick, or a lot of a prick which was my usual luck, you feel tempted to see them again as they are not only charming, but you don't care if and when you have to dump them. It's playing it safe. If you meet a nice guy, but your not sure if you fancy them, its easy to run a mile because you feel this person doesn't deserve to be hurt. So potentially you could run away from the right guy, through fear. And anyone is lying if they say getting into a relationship isn't scary! I want one so badly, yet I'm terrified!

He seemed happy with my explanation, and also content that he was in the 'good guy' bracket, but we got on so well, I would obviously meet him again!

He walked me to the bus stop and we had to wait 10 minutes for the bus. It was bitterly cold and Daniel pulled me in for a hug to keep me warm. I knew he wanted to kiss me but I didn't make it easy, I still felt so unsure! As the bus appeared in the distance I let him go in for the kill, and it was nice! Gentle, passionate, keen... as I pulled away he grabbed my hands and said, get the next bus. I giggled, as you do! And said no, he would miss his last tube and be stranded in suburbia! I couldn't possibly let that happen. I jumped on the bus and waved goodbye, certain I would see him again.

Post date text......

'Al right looser!!!! lol, let me know when you get home OK. I had a really good time tonight, the music was great and your company was awesome! Would be nice to do it again sometime very soon! X'

The looser was a bit of a running joke through the night FYI LOL

The reply......

'LOL home sweet home! Too easy! Thank you for a really nice evening, I had a great time and it would be lovely to do something again soon! Night looser! X

MISTAKE NUMBER 1....

I didn't make any this time, and neither did he!!!! watch this space people! hehe

15th March - The Fashionista Darling

The cold early evening air teased my nervous limbs, causing me to draw into myself with a shudder, as I crossed the road to meet Sam..

Sam described himself as a 5”11 Athletic mixed race, Tantric sex loving man, who works in fashion. During pre date emails, it became apparent he was pretty wealthy, confident, new to online dating AND could get me a dress from work if I needed one!!! To which I politely declined, thinking 'do they even have size 12 at fashion shows!!' - much to my fellow datress's dismay!

“Say yes to the dress” – SHE YELLED in frustration. “OK OK, if he offers again its all fucking yours darrrrling :-)”

I crossed the cobbled street towards the shadowed stranger. The ground was uneven, but knowing Sam would be assessing my catwalk style approach, I wiggled my hips and floated, stumbling very elegantly only once! He commented how much he loved my shoes, so he must have noticed the very unrefined walk, but hey, I have never been good in heals! (this is where I wish I could say they were 4 inch louboutins.. as opposed to 2 inch nameless beauties, but hey ho, my new boyfriend is in fashion darling, the future looked bright!

Sam was handsome in person, he wore a worldly square chiselled face, with nice clothes and a friendly smile, so I felt confident as we popped around the corner to a pub to become better acquainted. He was a mix of Italian and Indian, and I must say it was probably a 50% mix, and it was a good one! I liked that he ordered a soft drink due to the fact he was driving, I however stuck with the reliable slickness of a large white wine to calm the nerves!!!

He was chatty and kinda interesting, he predictably said the words 'fucking' and 'darling' consistently, as forewarned by a fellow fashionista, but his tales of catwalk antics and behind the scene goings on kept me intrigued, and we talked easily before moving on to another pub. I would say he talked more about him than he asked about me, but I gave him some grace, as nerves can do funny things to different people. But I made sure I told him enough to keep him intrigued, and made sure he could see how witty and sharp I was, and of course I purred and giggled cutely enough to remind him I was sexy! I did also feel the need to tell him about the wonders of curry pasta haha, which he found very amusing!

Sam gradually sat closer and closer, and his hand frequented my knee more and more often. I wasn't sure what I thought of him, but at this point, I decided I would definitely meet him again. he was pleasant company. That and an offer to take me to Dubai, on an all expenses paid trip in May, how could I not see him again! ;-)

He had mentioned in his profile his love of Tantric sex and he refereed to sex often enough that I figured talking about it would be natural and not really seedy. The conversation went a little bit like this...

“SO... Tantric huh... wow, how do you do that, it must be really hard not letting yourself cum!!!” (I have so much tact on a 1st date)

“No you can cum, just after a long time.”

“But I thought it was unclean to do that, isn't that the whole principle??”

“No, only the gurus that live in the mountains practise it like that..”

“Hummmm OK, so, the weathers been great today hasn't it!!!”

and the conversation continued...

3 wines later......

I may have let Sam snog me in the bar.. I don't think I had much of a say in the matter, but I was pleased that he at least knew how to kiss. And at this point I knew he was poking at my weaknesses and I wondered where the evening would take us. Not only was he poking my weaknesses but he was now poking my leg, on purpose, to which I had to say “YES I know you have a hard on!!” (shocking) lol.

He offered to drive me home, and having lubricated my liver with copious and nervous swigs of wine, I thought why not. I told him to expect nothing, but I didn't mind him staying.

Mistake number 1....

DONT SAY: EXPECT NOTHING - IN A FLIRTY WAY!!!!!!!

We arrived home, he liked my flat, sat down, pulled me down next to him, kissed me hard, and then harder and then harder, you get the point... hands everywhere, up, under, around, it took all of my strength to get him to back off!

I was quickly realising that he wasn't as buff as his picture suggested which I suspect is at least 3 years old!! and poking out of his shirt was........ HAIR! (Yes hair... I know what you all were thinking tut tut) HUMMMMMM not a clean shaven six pack then!?

I managed to retain the control and made it clear that he should forget his intentions, to which he sulked, before giving up and deciding to go home!

YAY

MISTAKE 2: DONT FORGET TO ASK HOW RECENT PICS ARE! Stuff changes over the years, its called gravity!

It was only his sexy eyes and cute smile that got him that far, it was his hairy, aggressive nature that got him all the way home though!

TSH MEN!

Another one bites the dust!! NEXT!
